| Chapter 1 |

Donghae cussed. He cussed and cussed and cussed. When cussing was not enough, Donghae screamed. Even that was not enough. He banged his head on the elegant black desk repeatedly; he even pulled his hair. Donghae wanted to throw his newly bought iPhone 5 and throw it across the room, but he figured that that was too much.

Donghae never knew he'd get so frustrated over a text.

I'm heading back to the office now, darling. You'd better be done with those documents or else... well, you know what'll happen, darling.

You could guess who that text message came from. Lee Eunhyuk. Donghae was nowhere near completing the stack of documents on the desk. Heck, he wasn't even done with half of them.

"Fucking Eunhyuk." Donghae cursed while pulling his hair out in frustration. Funny how it was at that moment that Eunhyuk decided to waltz into the office.

Donghae stared. Eunhyuk stared. Donghae stared and slowly put down his hands, while Eunhyuk burst into fits of laughter.

"Donghae darling, why were you pulling your hair like that? You should have seen your face! It was so priceless, oh my God, I don't think I've even seen anything funnier!" Eunhyuk cackled, clutching his stomach.

Donghae remained silent. Firstly, it was because he was embarrassed. Secondly, he was afraid of getting into trouble for not completing his work on time. Donghae prayed that Eunhyuk would actually forget about his work and just shoo him away. Unfortunately for Donghae, his prayers were rarely answered.

"So I assume you're done with the documents if you're pulling your hair so freely like that?" Eunhyuk sneered, barely managing to contain his laughter.

Donghae gulped. "Not exactly, Eunhyu-"

"What do you mean, 'not exactly'?" Eunhyuk cut him off harshly. Eunhyuk's expression immediately turned from mischievous to a look of dissatisfaction. Donghae averted his gaze and fiddled with his fingers. It was something he always did when he was nervous.

"I have no excuses. I'm sorry, Eunhyuk." Donghae breathed, slurring his words.

"You must be joking. You out of all the people in the world should know that I absolutely do not like unfinished work, Donghae." Eunhyuk bellowed.

Eunhyuk then walked towards his desk and glanced at the unfinished work. "Tch, not even halfway done. I'm very unhappy with you, Donghae. Ridiculous."

"Get out of my office."

Donghae quickly scrambled out of his chair and walked - ran - towards the door. Before exiting, he gave a 90-degree bow and apologized profusely once again.

As soon as Donghae got out of Eunhyuk's office, he heaved a sigh of relief. Thankfully for him Eunhyuk didn't threaten to sack him or reduce his pay. Considering how it was just now, Eunhyuk's scoldings were kind of light as compared to his others. Donghae wondered if it was because Eunhyuk was in a good mood. If he was, did Donghae just ruin that good mood? Screw it, Donghae thought. Why did he care about Eunhyuk's mood anyway?

---

Over the next few days, Eunhyuk was constantly in bad moods; every staff member was careful not to anger or annoy him. However, some people were just pure unlucky.

"You're fired!" Eunhyuk's hiss could be heard all around the office. The poor girl trembled and cried, pleading for Eunhyuk to reconsider, but Eunhyuk just walked away with an annoyed look plastered on his face. As Eunhyuk passed by Donghae's table, he gave Donghae a disgusted look - obviously still upset over Donghae's unfinished work - before walking into his office.

Donghae sighed. It was really hard to make up to Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk never forgives and forgets easily. It wouldn't be Lee Eunhyuk if he was like that. Donghae especially hated that trait of his boss.

---

"How's work buddy?" Yesung asked casually. Yesung was Donghae's best friend - they were friends since like, forever, literally. They went through thick and thin together and had a special bond that nobody could break. Some people labelled Yesung as weird, but Donghae liked him that way. It was what made Yesung the way he was. Yesung was special.

Donghae looked over to his friend and sighed. "Like shit. Eunhyuk's been shit. You?"

Yesung laughed while patting Donghae on the back lightly with his small hands. "Mine's fine. There's this new employee called Ryeowook. Thin and frail boy he is. I'm his supervisor. Everything's going swell. Anyway, Eunhyuk's going to get better soon, don't worry. He's just in those moods that girls get you know? What was it called? PSM?"

"PMS buddy, sheesh!" Donghae corrected Yesung.

"Ah yeah that, PMS. Well sorry I don't know the term, I'm no woman." Yesung giggled.

Donghae narrowed his eyes. "And what exactly are you implying here?"

Yesung gave an innocent look and shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Donghae rolled his eyes and popped a lollipop to his mouth. Grape-flavored. "Want one?" Donghae offered Yesung a strawberry-flavored one. Yesung laughed and shook his head.

"What are you, a candy shop?" Yesung mocked.

Donghae rolled his eyes. "A candy shop that specializes in lollipops, more likely."

Yesung laughed and glanced at his watch. It was 8:48PM.

"Holy shit, I have an appointment at 9PM today Donghae. I'll see you around, okay? Get home safely!" Yesung scrambled out of his seat and waved goodbye. Donghae watched as his friend exited the shop and wondered if he should be heading home soon.

He figured it wouldn't hurt to stay a little longer.

---

At 9:30PM, Donghae finally exited the warm cafe. He put on his coat and gloves to help shield him from the cold weather.

It was snowing. Donghae had always hated winter; it was far too cold for his own liking.

Donghae walked in the streets, leaving his footprints in the snow. It would've been nice if he had company to walk with in the cold weather. Too bad Yesung had an appointment and Donghae was not much of a talker.

As he walked past an alley, he realized that there was someone sitting on the pathway with nothing but summer clothes on. Donghae worried for the man. What if he caught a cold or frostbites? Donghae changed his mind to go straight home and walked towards the mysterious man. Thoughts like whether that man was a robber or rapist did not even cross his mind. Donghae just sincerely wanted to help the poor cold man. As he neared the man, Donghae realized that he was crying. The man's sobs and wails were loud and agonizing. Donghae pitied the said man.

And as Donghae further neared the man, he realized that the man looked very familiar.

"Excuse me," Donghae called out warmly to the man. The man looked up, his face full with snot and tears. Donghae stood rooted in his spot as he realized who the man was.

"Donghae?"

It was none other than his boss.

Lee Eunhyuk.
